The following short clip is reception of Radio Riyadh on 1521 KHz.  The beginning portion has splatter from a station (WWKB) on 1520 KHz.  However, the time signal and voice announcement are fairly clear.  Reception was on 23 October 2013 at 2300z.

The following clip is a reenactment of Reginald Fessenden’s Christmas Eve broadcast from December 1906.  The station in the clip was broadcasting from Forest, Virginia, using 20 watts.  My grandfather, Adam Stein, Jr., was Fessenden’s chief engineer and was present during the original 1906 broadcast.  The broadcast in 1906 was made from Brant Rock, Massachusetts.  Reception was on 25 December 2013 at 0700z on a frequency of 486 KHz.

The following audio clip is from Radio New Zealand (2 July 2014 at 1153z) on 9890 KHz.  The broadcast signal was in Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM format).  For the most part, the clip is fairly good, considering a digital signal and the distance from the east coast of the United States to New Zealand.  To decode a DRM signal, Virtual Audio Cable and DReaM software was used.  The mp3 file below was made using Audacity.

Radio Andernach (Germany) broadcasting in DRM mode.  There was no audio received due to it being encrypted for use by the German military.  Reception was on 17 Aug 2014 at 0245z on 7325 KHz.

China National Radio jams broadcasts from stations that are in political opposition to their government.  One such broadcast is called Firedrake or Fire Dragon.  The following ling is to a digital recording that was made via satellite of the Firedrake program.  It is a very interesting music composition and upon listening, one can easily understand how this signal could easily mask another station.  ENJOY!
